Belarus getting rid of toxic components of substandard rocket fuel

Belarus is getting rid of substandard missile fuel. Belarusian military together with OSCE representatives are exporting toxic components to specialized enterprises in Russia and Sweden.

In total, about 700 tons of liquid will be disposed of. It was previously used in air defense systems. The implementation of this project will reduce the risks associated with excess stocks of hazardous substances.

Oleg Prokopenko, OSCE expert:
We are shipping the rocket oxidant from the missile base. It is transported to the city of Cheboksary, Russia. There is an installation there, which recycles this substance into civilian products according to the technology approved and agreed by us.

The project with the OSCE was signed in 2015. It will allow utilizing substandard components of liquid rocket fuel stored in the Armed Forces, while not violating the requirements of environmental safety.
