Bjørndalen on IOC's decision on Russia at 2018 Olympics

Eight-time Olympic biathlon champion Ole Einar Bjørndalen from Norway commented on the situation with participation of Russian athletes under a neutral flag at the upcoming Olympics.

According to Bjørndalen, as quoted by Sport FM, the decision of the IOC is very difficult. However, it is not important under which flag to perform, thinks the Norwegian. It is important that the athlete is "clean" before the start.

Ole Einar Bjørndalen:
I think it is not so important under which flag to compete. In my opinion, it is much more important that only pure athletes go to the start. This is most important for me.

The husband of the Belarusian biathlete Darya Domracheva expressed hope that clean athletes will soon perform at the tournament.

The biathlete has not discussed the IOC decision with representatives of the International Biathlon Union.

Ole Einar Bjørndalen:
Athletes have their own worries, they have their own.

His wife Daria Domracheva earlier noted that without a flag and an anthem "it will be difficult at the Olympics."

Domracheva also commented on Russia's suspension from the 2018 Olympics. Find more here.
