Belarus' WTO accession talks due in 2018

The next round of multilateral negotiations on Belarus' accession to the World Trade Organization is scheduled for March 2018, press secretary of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Mironchik said at a briefing today.

It will be headed by First Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Evdochenko. The Belarusian delegation also includes representatives of the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

But first of all for the country it is an important element of the negotiation process on joining the World Trade Organization and preparing for the next round of multilateral negotiations. Previously, it was appointed in March 2017," said Dmitry Mironchik.

To maximize the progress of the negotiation process, Belarus will hold a meeting with the Secretary General of the WTO, delegations of key WTO members at the ministerial conference. Signing of protocols on the completion of bilateral negotiations on access to markets for goods and services is expected with individual countries.

In 2017, such agreements have already been signed with the Republic of Korea, Japan, Ecuador and just this week with Norway.
