First Belarusian student satellite to be launched from China’s space airfield in 2018

The first Belarusian student satellite will be launched in 2018 from a space airfield in China. This was announced by the representatives of the Belarusian State University.

The nano satellite will be working on the low earth orbit at a height of 500 kilometers. Currently the contract on launching the satellite is being coordinated with Chinese partners.

A satellite is a scientific laboratory; it is equipped with a complex of systems: energy, control and stabilization. The service of life of such technologies is about five years. In this time new space technologies will be tested.

Vladimir Saechnikov, head of physics and aerospace technologies of the Belarusian State University:
Usually, connections with such satellites last from 10-12 minutes. It will appear in the radio vision up to six times a day-it will travel from one horizon to another. Therefore, a special receiver module was developed-it resembles a flash-stick. A student will insert it into his laptop and he will be able to perceive the information from the satellite.

The student satellite is a mutual development of the National Academy of Sciences and the leading university of Belarus. Launching such satellites is world practice and there are about 100 satellites on the Earth’s orbit.
