Belarus sees Tajikistan as gateway to Afghan, Pakistani markets

Belarus and Tajikistan are aiming to enter the markets of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

It is planned to hold a business forum and an exhibition of Belarusian products in Dushanbe in the spring of 2018. This will allow studying the initial demand for engineering and other products in the market of the whole region. The emergence of a joint Belarusian-Tajik enterprise with the geography of sales to third countries is not ruled out. In addition, the parties agreed to work out a road map for the development of their relations.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus:
Today we agreed that in the near future, without delaying, maybe in the spring - it comes quickly after the winter - we will organize a large-scale exhibition of our companies and enterprises in Tajikistan. We organize in such a way that together with you you can enter the Afghan and Pakistani markets.

The leadership of Afghanistan, big businessmen come to Belarus and ask that we organize the supply of equipment and food and help to open assembly production there. Of course, we would very much like you to get involved in this process, because you know Afghanistan better than anyone else. There, it is necessary to create these enterprises that people need. The President supported that he would do everything to organize the largest exhibition of the products we produce.

Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan:
At present, investment projects are being actively implemented to create a joint assembly production of agricultural equipment in the city of Hisor. For today one shop is already operating, and by autumn of next year it is planned to launch it in full. We regard this project as one of the most important for the agro-industrial complex of Tajikistan.

Our agreements stipulated the opening of production of tractors of the brand "Belarus" in the south of Tajikistan. This project was proposed to be implemented taking into account the export of manufactured products to Afghanistan and Pakistan. We need to find effective ways to implement this project as soon as possible.

As a result of the negotiations Belarus and Tajikistan concluded agreements on inter-regional development, with high potential in the pharmaceutical, industrial and agricultural sectors underlined.
