Belarus promises to make European Games 2019 best ever

Belarus will ensure preparation for the European Games at the highest level, said Alexander Lukashenko on November 29 meeting with the head of the European Olympic Committees.

The competitions will be held in Minsk in the summer of 2019.

In general, Belarus is ready to accept such a large-scale forum. However, a number of facilities have yet to be modernized and completed.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus:
Our representatives recently reported on the situation related to the preparations for the Second European Olympic Games. I want to assure you that everything that we promised will be modernized, built and tested by mid-2019. You will not have any problems with guests - their accommodation, food and so on. Athletes, coaches, specialists, functionaries of the Olympic committees will be taken care of, too.

We will do this, as befits Belarus, very sincerely and openly.

These will be the best European Olympic Games. The entire Belarusian people will watch these Games. This will not be a local event. Our biggest neighbors - Russia, Ukraine, Poland, the Baltic countries, Central Europe, your homeland - will know that the European Olympics are held here, all doors will be open to them. We will invite everyone who wants to visit Belarus. I guarantee this.

Alexander Lukashenko also congratulated Janez Kocijančič on his election as the head of the European Olympic Committees and wished him every success in that position.
