Azarenka may compete in ASB Classic in Auckland in January 2018

Former World No.1 Victoria Azarenka will receive a wild card for the ASB Classic tournament, which will be held in Auckland in the first week of the 2018 season, from 1 to 7 January.

This will be the case if by that time she deals with the child custody case she is involved in, reports stuff.co.nz.

Victoria gave birth to a baby on December 19, 2016, and already in June 2017 she resumed the competitive activity. However, later Azarenka parted with the father of her son Leo - Billy McKeague, and he initiated a child custody case, due to which the boy is forbidden to leave California. The tennis player does not intend to leave him for the same of tournaments.

Therefore, Victoria missed the entire summer-autumn series of American tournaments, competitions in Asia and the Fed Cup final, in which the Belarusian team lost to the United States 2:3.

Participation in the tournament in Auckland has already been confirmed by the winner of the final tournament of 2017 Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark, as well as Agnieszka Radwanska from Poland and American Lauren Davis.
