Listapad 2017 Gran Prix goes to Estonia

On November 10, 2017 the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival “Listapad” was held in Minsk cinema “Moskva”. During a whole week a professional jury was choosing the best of the works of directors from 55 countries.

The Gran Prix of 2017 went to a director from Estonia Rainer Sarnet for the black and white film “November”. It was filmed based on Estonian mythology. What is more, the film was presented the awards “Best cinematography after Yuri Marukhin” and “Best sound design (music) of the film”.

The special prize of the festival’s jury “For the best actress in the leading part” went to the film of Boris Khlebnikov “Arrhythmia”. The special prize of the jury was presented to director Miransh Naik for his film “Mischief maker” (India, Great Britain, France, and the Netherlands).

The Gran Prix for the best documentary was given to the director Arunas Matelis for his “Wonderful losers: a different world” (Lithuania, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Latvia, Great Britain, Ireland, Spain). It was also named the best documentary by the audience.

Gold of the “Listapadzik” (Small Listapad)-festival for children and youth- went to a French film director Lola Doillon for the film “Fanny's voyage”. The audience award went to Jhonny Hendrix Hinestroza for “Candelaria” (Columbia, Germany, Norway, Argentina, Cuba). Nevertheless, the Gran Prix of “Listpadzik” went to the film “Timm Thaler, or the Traded Laughter” by a German film director Andreas Dresen.

The special prize of President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko "For Cinema Humanism and Spirituality" was presented to the People’s Artist of Kyrgizstan, director of “Centaur” Aktan Arym Kubat.

The festival was held from November 3 till November 10 at several places. All in all, 164 films were presented from 55 countries. Some 94 films participated in the competition. It is also necessary to say that the audience participated in choosing the best of the best. After each film people voted for the film they enjoyed watching most of all.
