Belavia announces flights to Rostov, Kazan for World Cup 2018

At a press conference on the Day of Civil Aviation Workers, representatives of the Belarusian aviation industry told about plans for 2018.

During the event, representatives of the aviation industry said what flights Belarus will open in the coming months. The general director of Belavia airline Anatoly Gusarov confirmed that flight from Minsk to Novosibirsk will resume in May according to summer schedule. It will be operated by S7 Airlines, and one will be able to buy the tickets from Belavia thanks to code-sharing.

He also noted that negotiations are now going on with the airline UVT Aero. The Tatar air carrier is going to launch flights from Belarus to Kazan.

If the Russian company does not fly, we will fly to Kazan ourselves. We are very interested in this direction, including because the World Cup will be held in 2018. We are considering Rostov for the same reason and we have already almost finalized a decision to open flights to Anapa," said Anatoly Gusarov.

Director General of the National Airport Minsk Dmitry Melikyan added:

Officially, negotiations with Russian Saratov Airlines and Nordavia - Regional Airlines are in progress - this concerns St. Petersburg and other regions. In addition, Nordica is receiving from the Estonian aviation authorities the status of an appointed carrier for Minsk-Tallinn scheduled flights. Now 20 airlines operate flights to 60 directions on a regular basis at the airport Minsk,” Gusarov underlined.

Russian low cost airline Pobeda has been trying to open a Gomel-Moscow flight for two years. There is still little progress in this area, said Director of the Aviation Department of the Ministry of Transport Vladimir Kostin.

"Yes, they showed such interest. We, the aviation authorities of Belarus, do not object to the opening of such a flight to Gomel or any other regional airport. Negotiations have been held, and now the carrier is deciding when to start flying. But the negotiations did not take place at the level of the Aviation Department or the Ministry of Transport, but at the level of the Belaeronavigatsia enterprise, because the Gomel airport is its branch. Now we are working to prepare documents for the accreditation of the airline in Belarus," Kostin said.
