Belarus deems relations with UAE important

Belarus and the United Arab Emirates will work on several large-scale projects, which will even more closely link their economies.

The development of bilateral relations were discussed on November 5 by the Belarusian head of state and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries have been developing for a quarter of a century. The political dialogue began long time ago, too. But, in addition, the United Arab Emirates is an economically promising direction for Minsk. Such cooperation will allow Belarus to enter the market of the Persian Gulf countries. The leaders of the countries agreed that the Arab Emirates should be even more widely represented in Belarus.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus:
We looked at a lot of things here: from tourism to the best samples of public health services. And I'm grateful that you fraternally, honestly and sincerely opened the door to any house which we wanted to visit. The hospital that we visited generally surprised us.

Of course, it's very important for us to always meet with you in a friendly way. Thank you for that! The bilateral relations are very important. Last time we agreed on a number of areas of cooperation, and we are trying to develop these areas together with the UAE side.

In the eight months of 2017 Belarus increased export to the UAE by one third compared to the same period of 2016. The Emirates are especially interested in Belarusian milk, meat and cereals. For example: the export of food has recently increased 10-fold. In addition, Belarus' MAZ trucks and Volat tractor trucks are the brands in which the UAE is interested.

At present, Belarus is interested in attracting Arab investments and establishing logistics.

As a sign of gratitude for the warm welcome, the President of Belarus presented to the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi a decorative work called "Golden Eagle" made using wood and minting technology. Another gift was the eastern saber.
