Belarus, Ukraine presidents meet in UAE

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko met with his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko in the United Arab Emirates on November 2.

Both leaders are on working visits in the UAE. The Belarusian head of state plans to hold talks with the leadership of the country, as well as a number of meetings with representatives of business circles.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus:
It's good that we find an opportunity to talk with each other and discuss problems that are pressing today. The plan that we outlined is being implemented.

In trade and economic terms, we cooperate very actively, our trade turnover, despite all sorts of problems and obstacles, is over $3 billion, probably already $3.5 billion now.

We have a very good opportunity and experience. I think for you it is not a problem to expand our cooperation through direct cooperation between regions. We in Gomel are preparing to hold, as we agreed, the first forum of the regions of Ukraine and Belarus. I think that they will give us new impetus for development between the two countries, and it will be useful for us to know what our people really need.

As for political interaction, Belarus and Ukraine generally have no problems in that. We absolutely follow the courses we agreed upon.
