Sasnovich, Lapko eliminated from Kremlin Cup

Belarusian stars Alexandra Sasnovich and Vera Lapko were eliminated from the Kremlin Cup on October 19. Both lost in the quarterfinals.

Sasnovich lost to Russian hot prospect Daria Kasatkina, who is among the top 30 in the WTA rating. Sasnovich is much further from the top spot in WTA and she could not resist the pressure of Kasatkina, 4:6, 3:6.

The athlete commented on her performance at the tournament. On her Instagram page Alexandra admitted that "it could have been better in general."

The tournament in Moscow is over for me. In general, I could have done better, I will work on mistakes. Thanks to everyone who supported me and those who did not support, too.

Vera Lapko fought for a ticket to the Kremlin Cup semifinals for almost two and a half hours, but eventually lost to Romanian Irina Begu: 6:3, 4:6, 7:5.
