Belarusian scientists participating in global European program on creating batteries for electric cars

This information was announced on October 10 during a briefing with foreign diplomats of the Central European initiative.

The participants of the forum will meet for the first time in Minsk on October 26.

The main themes of the summit will be biotechnologies in pharmaceutics and agriculture. For Belarus, which holds the chair in the Initiative, the forum gives extra possibilities to develop cooperation with the EU. The biotechnology market is considered to be the most fast-growing. It increases by 10% annually; by 2025 its volume may sum up to one trillion dollars.

Alexander Shumilin, Chairman of the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus:
Last year we produced medications worth half a billion dollars. More than 52% of the medication is made in Belarus. We have our own formulas in such global tasks, as treating cancer, hepatitis, and other illnesses, which are a plague to the all people, and, naturally, for Europe. We are searching for new growth points for Belarus.

Biotechnologies are one of these new directions.

Belarus is more actively participating in international projects. Particularly in the EU Technology program “Horizon-2020”. Belarusian physics supplied products worth 1.5 billion dollars for the Large Hadron Collider. Participation is such projects allows to get new experience and increase competition of Belarusian products.
