Secretary General of Belarusian Weightlifting Union comments on weightlifters' disqualification

All week the sports community discussed news about the 1-year disqualification of Belarusian weightlifters for repeated doping violation.

We will talk about weightlifting and disqualification of our team. Sergei, in short, is everything clear? A year of disqualification is in our pocket or do we have any hope to continue to perform?

генсекретарь Белорусского тяжелоатлетического союза о дисквалификации белорусских тяжелоатлетов

Sergei Samusev, Secretary General of the Belarusian Weightlifting Union:
Not quite right about the disqualification, because at the moment, as of today, we have not received official documents that would disqualify our federation. Therefore, today we are preparing, we are training. Our athletes are planning to participate in the European Junior Championships, which will be held in Albania. In the near future, next week, we plan to leave unless, of course, we get official documents from the International Federation about the disqualification.

Then explain please where does this rumour come from?

Sergey Samusev:
The past meeting of the executive committee of the International Federation was held and it was said that such a measure might be adopted. At the same time, this has not been legally formalized. The International Federation did not say how this will happen, if it happens, in what time, under what conditions. Therefore, we are waiting for clarification and any action from the International Federation.

At the same time, we have the right to defend the interests of our athletes - this is a hearing, at least. That is, our athletes - those who were caught in repeated violations, have not yet been dismissed, they are not officially disqualified.
