Belarus tests basalt as raw material in agriculture: yield growth recorded

Basalt will be used in agriculture in Belarus. A new raw material was tested by several farms and growth of productivity was marked. In addition, basalt is a raw material for the production of building materials and mineral fibers.

Belarusian geologists discovered the basalt deposit for the first time. Its reserves in Pinsk district are estimated at 30 million tons. Now the geological services are focused on the detailed exploration of the deposits, after which it will probably be possible to start mining raw materials.

Evgeny Podgornyi, General Director of the Research and Production Center for Geology:
This is a breakthrough in geological science, which has a powerful economic potential. This is import-substituting raw materials. Basalt can be used as a fertilizer, it gives an increase in yield. Without any complicated training. Secondly, basalt is a valuable raw material for the construction industry, for the ceramic industry, for the production of building materials. The deposit makes it possible to predict that in a year or two, with reasonable investments, basalt will be used in Belarus' economy and even appear on the construction markets and so on.

Belarus has deposits of oil, chalk, sapropels, potash salt, peat, and sand. New kinds of minerals are also being developed.
