"Belarus is a gate between East and West": First conference of honorary consuls opens in Minsk

The first conference of honorary consuls was opened in Minsk. It gathered almost 60 diplomats working in 56 countries.

The honorary consul is an authoritative person who has influence in political and business circles in their homeland. They are engaged in the development of friendly relations representing the interests of his country abroad. The main theme of the current meeting is the expansion of trade and attraction of foreign investments to Belarus.

Dragoljub Svonja, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Serbia:
In November, we expect the visit of your President. This is the latest. At this time, my company, which I head, will sign a big contract for the supply of tractors, 800 pieces, for 2018.

Michael Morgulis, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belarus in the State of Florida (USA), the head of the Fund "Spiritual Diplomacy":
Recently there was a meeting in Miami, a conference on high technology, which involved 9,000 people, and 27 representatives of Belarus. Belarusian companies signed an agreement for approximately $10 million with US companies. So I see a great perspective in the development of our relations, and recently at a meeting of the Congress I said that Belarus is a gate between East and West. This gateway is open to all good intentions.

Welcoming the honorary consuls in Minsk, Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei noted their special role in building strong bridges between the countries. He also underlined that this meeting will surely lay the foundation for a good tradition of upcoming conferences.
