Belarusian parliamentarians open new legislative season: Economic bills top priority

The new law-making season starts in Belarus on October 2. Autumn sessions are opened by both Houses of the Belarusian Parliament.

Today my colleague Anastasia Ivannikova works in the Oval Hall. She is now live from Independence Square. What will the deputies do today?

The deputies have already gathered in the Oval Hall. The third session of the House of Representatives of the sixth convocation has started its work. About 30 documents have been prepared for consideration.

In total, about 60 bills could be reviewed.

The deputies will discuss the budget for 2018 and the amendments to the Tax Code, a large batch of economic bills.

In particular, they plan to make adjustments to the laws "On State Procurement of Goods (Works, Services)", "On Credit Histories", "On Counteracting Monopolistic Activity and Developing Competition", changes to the laws "On Veterans", "On Protection of Consumer Rights" and "On Physical Culture and Sport" along with some others.

The agenda of the autumn session includes ratification of the agreement on the Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union. Similar procedures should be held in the parliaments of all five member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Today, the autumn session opens in the upper chamber, the Council of the Republic.
