Alexander Lukashenko gives indications to concentrate on farming efficiency in 2018

Alexander Lukashenko gave instructions to make 2018 the year of farming efficiency in agriculture. On September 29, 2017 Alexander Lukashenko visited the Kletsk district in the Minsk region.

The necessity of concentrating on amelioration and crop-engineering works, the issue of reclamation of the territories of former farms were discussed during the visit.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:
Don’t count on more money and financial support anymore. The year is good so earn money. We must concentrate the finances on land reclamation crop-engineering works. Yes, we need to bring things to order in the country. We must strictly bring up the issue on recultivation of former farms, elimination of the leftovers, granulation. We can do it. It turns out to be a profitable business.

I talked to one director of a plant. He says, “I bought one complex, started to granulate these columns, farms and so on. Then the second one, the third one- a more productive one-imported”. I tell him, “You bought, what for? You produce it at home”. He is the head of the plant which produces prefabricated housing. He tells me, “The profitability is good. I have better profitability there, than at the main production line”. I ask him, “Where do you distribute the waste?” He told me that he sells it for roads and other building works. So, why aren’t we doing it?

During his working visit, Alexander Lukashenko got acquainted with the autumn field works region. Currently, the harvest of cereals and leguminous crops is coming to an end, while harvesting of vegetables, potatoes and corn continues. In addition, winter crops are being sown. The works is set to complete by October 4. There are certain difficulties with this in the Vitebsk region. Meanwhile, it is extremely important to observe the terms of work. Alexander Lukashenko gave instructions to end the sowing campaign in the north in time.

Alexander Lukashenko:
People must be involved, students, if necessary. To mobilize people themselves. Not many people are needed with technologies like these. However, we must concentrate now. It is very important. We’ll harvest the potatoes. It will be a shame to lose such a harvest. And the harvest is good.

Alexander Lukashenko also got acquainted with the organization of winter triticale sowing, harvesting of sugar beets, maize and sorghum. Sorghum is a herbaceous plant. Recently, this culture has been increasingly used in Belarus' agriculture, which is due to its greater resistance to drought compared to cereals and corn. Sorghum is less demanding for soil fertility and requires less fertilizing. The head of state was also informed about the fulfillment of instructions to ensure the storage of potatoes and fruit and vegetable products.
