BATE score two but lose against Arsenal in Europa League

BATE Borisov held their first home match of the group stage of this season's Europe League. The team under Alexander Ermakovich met with the formidable Arsenal.

The start was awful - 0:3 by the 26th minute. However, BATE managed to overcome fear. Or maybe Arsenal just relaxed. Before the break, Mirko Ivanic scored a brilliant header. In the second half, the teams exchanged goals. Giroud scored from the penalty spot, while Mikhail Gordeychuk replied for 4:2.

Arsenal remain group leader with six points. BATE are on one point are are in third place.

In the other game, FC Koln hosted Crvena Zvevda, who drew with BATE at home in the first round. The Serbians managed to score one goal, while Koln, the worst team in Bundesliga now, could not find the net and lost to remain last in the group.

The German club will now play two legs against BATE Borisov in an attempt to rectify the situation.
