IAEA will continue to assist Belarus in building nuclear power plant

Readiness to support Belarus in NPP construction was confirmed today by the general director of the agency Yukiya Amano at a meeting with the Ambassador of Belarus to Austria Elena Kupchina and Deputy Minister of Energy of Belarus Mikhail Mikhadyuk.

The conversation took place in Vienna. The 61st session of the IAEA General Conference opened in the Austrian capital yesterday. The most authoritative organization in the field of nuclear energy gathers stakeholders to consider strategic issues and hold scientific discussions. 

Throughout the working week, experts from 168 countries will discuss the prospects of using peaceful nuclear energy and issues of nuclear safety.

The agenda also includes the issues regarding the DPRK and Iran. Belarus is one of the founding states of the IAEA and actively participates in projects carried out under the aegis of this organization.
