Russian tanks arriving in Belarus for West-2017 exercise

Tank units of the Russian army are being transferred to Belarus from the Moscow region. The machinery will arrive within 24 hours.

According to the scenario of the West 2017 military exercise, the troops were raised after receiving information on an illegal armed formation on the territory of the Belarus-Russia Union State.

The joint military training of the armed forces of Belarus and Russia officially began on September 14.

During the exercise, Russian tankmen, together with their Belarusian counterparts, will work out modern approaches to the combat use of units while combating conditional bandit formations and the enemy's sabotage and reconnaissance groups.

The Belarus President assured that the drills don't pose threat to neighboring countries, which was confirmed by NATO secretary general Jens Stoltenberg.

The Belarusian defense ministry launched a website on the West 2017 drills ( and promised daily briefings until the end of the exercise on September 20.
