Belarusbank top managers sentenced to years in prison

16.5 years for two: the court of the Central District of Minsk sentenced the former top managers of Belarusbank to prison.

First Deputy Chairman of the Board Gennady Gospodarik was sentenced to 7.5 years of imprisonment, while the head of the bank's management Nikolai Tsyrto to 9 years.

The men are found guilty of taking bribes in a particularly large amount and exceeding official authority. In addition, both will have property for a total of more than $600,000 confiscated.

For several years, they have received monetary rewards through overstating the cost of the purchased banking equipment - bribes, the total amount of which was more than half a million US dollars.

Criminal actions caused significant harm to public interests.

The process lasted almost two months, but the final point has not yet been set. The defense has 10 days to appeal the verdict in the Supreme Court.
