India and Belarus are to expand cooperation in oil and gas sector. A package of documents on cooperation of the two counties was signed on September 12, 2017 in New Delhi.

The Belarusian Potash Company and MTZ have signed agreements as well. These are the preliminary results of Alexander Lukashenko’s visit to India. Negotiations with the President of India are ahead.

The sides will discuss further development of Belarus-India relations and cooperation in the format of Eurasian integration.

Belarus will be contributing to the soon signing of agreement on free trade between the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union and India. This was stated by Alexander Lukashenko after he met with the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:
Belarus is interested in India becoming a great and a powerful country. Belarus has always preached, proclaimed and supported the idea of a multipolar world. And we would like India to become a powerful pole of our planet. I absolutely support the idea of the Indian Prime Minister, that today

we are entering a new level in Belarusian-Indian cooperation.

The existence of great India is impossible without your attendance on the territory of Belarus: between the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union. Belarus is ready to render the most beneficial and easy terms of the functioning of India’s business if investing into Belarus. We have such experience with other countries. The signing of the agreement on mutual investment protection between Belarus and India today speaks of the seriousness of Belarus’ intentions. I want to promise you- the Prime Minister spoke about it- any support to the sooner signing of the agreement on free trade between the Eurasian Economic Union and India.

Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India:
We have made a decision to develop cooperation in all sectors of Belarusian-Indian cooperation. We will be working in order to develop and diversify our economic ties. We will be concentrating on establishing them on the basis of complementarity. There are great prospects for business and investments in such sectors as pharmaceutics, oil and gas, heavy industry.
