NATO to monitor West 2017 drills at invitation of Belarus and Russia

Three NATO representatives will monitor the Belarusian-Russian drills West 2017. They are invited as international observers for maneuvers, which will begin exactly in a week.

The head of the alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, said the day before that the exercises did not directly threaten any of the NATO countries and informed that they had received an invitation from Belarus and Russia and experts from the North Atlantic Alliance were sent to monitor the drills.

In Belarus, the West 2017 exercise will be held from 14 to 20 September. Participating in it will be more than 10,000 troops and more than 500 units of equipment.
