Belarus, EOC sign 2019 European Games contract

On September 1, 2017 Belarus signed a contract on hosting the 2019 European Games. The tickets, sports arenas, the opening and closing ceremonies have been coordinated in a document with the International Committee.

The European Games will be held in 2019, the preparations for the event are at full pelt. As many as 12 sports infrastructures of Minsk and the Minsk region will be competing with one another.

Janez Kocijancic, acting president of the European Olympic Committee:
We are very proud to have signed a contract with Minsk on holding the 2019 European Games. It is a logical solution of the 45th European Olympic Committee’s General Assembly, which accepted the kind invitation of President Lukashenko. We believe that the 2019 European Games will be a wonderful sport event, and Minsk will be a good organizer.

Georgy Katulin, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus:
The European Olympic Committee has announced that these Games are partners. One of the key moments is the marketing program, as a result of which the profit will be divided amongst the partners – the European Olympic Committee and the Republic of Belarus.

The grand sport event will be held from June 21 till 30. As many as our thousand athletes will compete for nearly 200 sets of medals in 15 kinds of sport. Some of the disciplines will give an opportunity to win an Olympic license for the Games in Tokyo.
