Belarus' Sasnovich eliminated in US Open second round

The Belarusian tennis player Alexandra Sasnovich has not been able to enter the third round of the final Grand Slam tournament of the season – the US Open.

Last night, Alexandra Sasnovich, 88th in the WTA rankings, lost to Australian tennis player Ashleigh Barty in the second round (43), 1:6, 6:7 (7:9). The match lasted 1 hour 23 minutes.

At the start of the competition in New York, Sasnovich overpowered American Julia Boserup (115), 6:2, 6:2.

The winner of the US Open 2016 German Angelique Kerber (6) ended this year’s tournament after losing to 19-year-old Japanese Naomi Osaka (45), 3:6, 1:6.

World number 2 Romanian Simon Halep was also eliminated at Flushing Meadows losing at the start to Russian Maria Sharapova (146), 4:6, 6:4, 3:6.

Two Belarusian tennis players will take part in the men’s doubles.

Max Mirnyi and Marcin Matkowski in the first round will meet with the American duo Taylor Fritz / Reilly Opelka. Andrei Vasilevsky and Chilean Hans Podlipnik-Castillo will compete with the Italian-French tandem Andreas Seppi / Adrian Mannarino.
