CTV Channel to show documentary about Francysk Skaryna August 30

In the evening of August 30 a new project kicks off on the CTV Channel – a cycle of films dedicated to the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing.

During three days CTV reporters will be telling about the most important and notable events of book printing.

The work on the documentary film lasted for about six months. In the time being CTV journalists visited many European countries – Poland, the Czech Republic and Italy, they collected the most reliable and unknown information. The first series will tell the audience about “Psalter”. The era of Belarusian book printing began from this Bible of Francysk Skaryna.

As many as two vases were brought to the hall. The destiny of the Francysk Skaryna depended on them.

In order to dive into the era of Francysk Skaryna and to show, how “Psalter” was created, how did the typography look like, what paper was made from and the colors, the author of the first series Anastasia Benedisuyk studied many tomes of literature and recorded about a dozen of interviews.



The film will tell the audience about the place of Skaryna’s birth and what he lived on. Whether Skaryna stood by the printing press. Answers to questions on the religion of the educator and his real name will be given. The mysteries of the appearance of the famous Belarusian will be revealed. The film will be shown on the CTV Channel tonight at 8:15pm.
