Relics of Mary Magdalene arrive in Minsk from Odessa

A huge number of parishioners gathered at the walls of the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Minsk on August 27. All of them came to the square to worship the relics of St. Mary Magdalene.

They were delivered from Odessa by a special motorcade.

At the walls of the temple the bearers of the relics were met by Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslavl Pavel.

Mary Magdalene is one of the myrrhbearers and she was among the first witnesses of the Resurrection of Christ.

Her name is associated with the appearance of Easter eggs. It is believed that the saint protects from witchcraft and grants the remission of seven deadly sins.

She followed the Lord, then went to preach the Lord. And then she went to teach other people this religion.

She is glorified and she heals a lot of people.

This is a big-great happiness to see the relics. We will go and pray to them, ask the Lord for health, for happiness.

The relics of St. Mary Magdalene are now in Western Europe.

They were brought from Constantinople to the West during the era of the Crusades. One of their pieces, which has arrived in Belarus, was stored in one of the monasteries of Odessa.
