Ivanic double sends BATE into 2017/18 Europa League group stage

BATE Borisov have entered the group stage of the Europa League.

In a dramatic second-leg battle with Ukrainian FC Oleksandriya our champions came out with a difficult dramatic victory 2:1.

In the first half, Stanislav Dragun made a dubious foul in the penalty area and gave the hosts the right for a penalty, which Vasily Grytsuk used to open the scoring. BATE still needed to score at least once.

In the second half, everything turned upside down.

Mirko Ivanić leveled the score in the 70th minute and three minutes later made a double after a stunning header which wrong-footed the Oleksandriya goalie.

The audience did not see any more goals in this game but that was more than enough for BATE to enter the Europa League group stage and play at least six European games this autumn and winter.
