Belarusian doctors transplant liver of 31-year-old man with mushroom poisoning

Belarusian doctors have transplanted the liver of a 31-year-old man with toadstool poisoning.

Acute mushroom poisoning. The donor of a liver transplant was found in less than a day. The patient was in critical condition. The doctors had to solve several problems at once: to protect the patient's brain, so that he is not killed by exposure to toxins, and also restore the functions of other systems.

Oleg Rummo, famous transplantologist and doctor of medical science, said that in such cases time is vital and the patient usually does not have much.

The Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Heart Transplantation of Organs and Tissues has made 485 liver transplants since 2008.
