Bulgaria down Belarus in FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Pre-Qualifiers

The national basketball team of Belarus held the third match of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Pre-Qualifiers. At Falcon Club, Belarus met Bulgarians on August 16.

In the first leg, manager Alexander Krutikov's Belarus suffered a defeat.

Initially, the Belarusians were 5:0 ahead but then lost the initiative and were trying to catch up with the Bulgarians for the rest of the match.

The pursuit was not successful and the Bulgarians won with a score of 84:70 (21:15, 25:23, 19:22, 19:10). Belarus' Vitaly Lyutych was the most efficient player with 18 points.

Thus, the Bulgarians took first place gaining 8 points out of 8 possible. Belarus have 4 points, while Portugal have 3.

The fate of the second ticket to the next qualifying round will be decided on Saturday, August 19, in the Portuguese Coimbra, after the Portugal v Belarus game.

In the first round, Alexander Krutikov's Belarus beat the Portuguese with a score of 78:75 in Minsk.
