Abdullah Abdullah about usefulness of Belarus’ experience

On August 16, 2017 Alexander Lukashenko met with the head of the executive branch of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah. In 2016, the commodity circulation between Belarus and Afghanistan grew significantly - up to 26 million dollars. However, the potential of the relationship is much higher. Afghanistan is interested in Belarus' products of machine building, oil refining, its achievements in medicine and agriculture. The Afghan authorities are ready to provide their subsoil for Belarus to develop.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:
I'm against forgetting history. However, it might be wrong to concentrate too much on the processes that occurred in history. We must build relationships;

we must do everything to make our relations wonderful in the future, so that we are not ashamed to look into each other's eyes.

Therefore, I want to assure you, as the head of the executive branch, that the Belarusian government will do everything in order to build the foundation of our relations in order to strengthen our ties. In order to fill them with specific content - move on from the wishes and conversations to a specific cooperation. We are ready for this. I want you to learn Belarus' capabilities during your visit. I want to assure you that we will definitely do everything that you get interested in (if we are able to do this).

The commodity circulation between Belarus and Afghanistan increased up to 26 million dollars in 2016.

However, the potential is a lot bigger. The establishment of mutual production lines and direct supplies of machinery are the issues that are being negotiated. Primarily the cooperation between Belarus and Afghanistan will base on pilot projects, if they are successful the parties can move onto establishing joint plants.

Abdullah Abdullah, head of the executive branch of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan:
This visit is very useful and important for us. I thank you for being ready to lay the foundation of our close relations. The Afghan government and people are full of determination to rebuilt Afghanistan in the sector of education, healthcare and agriculture.

And the experience of Belarus will be very useful.
