What did President Lukashenko and cosmonaut Novitsky talk about?

A warm meeting of Alexander Lukashenko and cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky took place in the Palace of Independence on August 16, 2017. The famous Belarus-born, who has returned from his second flight into space, presented a photograph of the crew and a watch for cosmonauts to Alexander Lukashenko. In his turn, President Lukashenko presented the first example of the book about the Palace of Independence .

Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:
I want you to have it. This is the first edition, which I personally verified as an example. I wrote a few words for you there. Read it later.

Oleg Novitsky, cosmonaut:
I definitely will. I’ll have to make a nice composition for it now.

Alexander Lukashenko:
To whom else could I present this book except a true person with a Belarusian heart? It will be symbolic and with dignity. We watched you and felt worried. The first flight. As far as I understand, about 150 days, the next one will be nearly 200 days. It is difficult for me to imagine.

Oleg Novitsky:
It is difficult for me to imagine too.

Alexander Lukashenko:
Being a person who doesn’t like closed space, when I watch you how you summersault there…

Oleg Novitsky:
There is nowhere to go, you understand it yourself: if you get into a fight – you need to work off.

Alexander Lukashenko:
That’s true. You won’t go out into space and have a rest there.

Oleg Novitsky:
Yes. You won’t slam the door. If there are small misunderstandings.

Alexander Lukashenko:
We watched you and saw all these twists and turns, all these problems. I was always amazed how you found a mutual language there with these foreigners.

Oleg Novitsky:
It is fine. They make out that they speak Russian, we make out that we speak English. As long as we understand one another. It is not important how we talk. We need to know, what we can press and what we can’t press. Good guys, well done to them.

Alexander Lukashenko:
You are on a holiday now, aren’t you?

Oleg Novitsky:
Yes, till the end of August. Now I don’t know how it will be later on, there are many things I have to do. I need to try and get used to being here step by step.

Alexander Lukashenko:
On Earth?

Oleg Novitsky:
Yes, I need to get ready. There will be a medical commission soon, somewhere in December or January they’ll tell me weather I am fit or not. I think that everything will be fine.

The Hero of the Russian Federation Oleg Novitsky is from Cherven, which is in the Minsk region. The first time he flew into space as commander was in 2012. His second flight began at the end of November 2016 and lasted till June 2, 2017.
