Alexander Lukashenko welcomes Afghanistan PM to learn Belarus' capabilities

On August 16, Alexander Lukashenko met with the head of the executive branch of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah.

In 2016, trade between Belarus and Afghanistan has grown significantly - up to 26 million dollars.

But the potential of the relationship is much higher. Afghanistan may find interesting Belarus' products of machine building, oil refining, its achievements in medicine and agriculture. The Afghan authorities are ready to provide their subsoil for development by Belarusians.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus:
I'm not a supporter of forgetting history. However, it's probably wrong to focus too much on the processes that occurred in history. We must build relationships, we must do everything in order to make our relations beautiful in the future, so that we are not be ashamed to look into each other's eyes.

In this regard, I want to assure you, as the head of the executive branch, that our government will do everything in order to build the foundation of our relations in order to strengthen our relationship. In order to fill them with specific content and move from the wishes and conversations to a specific cooperation. We are ready for this.

I would like you to learn Belarus' capabilities during your visit.

On August 16, Belarus and Afghanistan are expected to sign two government agreements: in the field of industry and simplification of the visa regime. The Afghan side is interested in training its students in Belarusian universities.

After the meeting with the President, the head of the executive branch of Afghanistan headed to one of the most important places in Minsk. On Victory Square, Abdulla Abdullah honored the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War (part of WWII). The Afghan delegation laid flowers and wreaths to the Eternal Flame and the foot of the monument.
