Vladimir Voltchkov hails Shakutin's role in Belarusian tennis management

Vladimir Voltchkov, head coach of the Belarusian national tennis team has given an interview to the TV program Simple Questions with Egor Khrustalev.

We are on the verge of autumn, and in the fall unique events for the new generation of Belarusian tennis will take place. The Fed Cup final is due in November. Our girls are actually playing in the finals of the World Cup, the Federation Cup. We do not have any other kind of sport where there would be such success. Especially successes on a new wave, not at the expense of old Soviet achievements. How to perceive this? It is an accident? Is it a target investment? Is this a coincidence? Change of the world order?

Vladimir Voltchkov, head coach of the Belarusian national national tennis team:
It cannot be said that this is an accident.

This is the result of the work of a huge number of people for a fairly long period of time.

This is the result of the work that was done even after the 2012 Olympics. A new chairman of the federation, Alexander Shakutin, was appointed.

He invited me to deal with sports issues. And we built the team together. We can say that not everything has been done properly, because the ambitions of the head were very huge.

At the same time, they were probably that ambitious driving force that made us sometimes believe more in ourselves, in coaches and athletes than we imagined we could. He is himself a very ambitious person, a professional, a passionate person. He started this work in a serious way. He made everything whirl and we all caught this wave. And it started giving results.
