The 70th anniversary of independence from the British Empire is celebrated in India on August 15, 2017. The celebrations began from the very morning in the Red Fortress in New Delhi, thousands of people and distinguished guests attended the event.
After raising the state flag, the Prime Minister of India delivered a speech to the people. In his speech he touched upon the issues of security, the unity of the republic, and also payed tribute to the memory of hundreds of people who died in the last couple of days because of the floods. The ceremony finished with a celebratory parade.
Alexander Lukashenko congratulated Ram Nath Kovind and the people of India on the national celebration.
