BATE stays without 2017/18 UEFA Champions League

FC BATE Borisov hosted Slavia Prague on August 2 in the second leg of the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.

Last week in the Czech Republic the Yellow Blues lost to Slavia 0:1, so on Wednesday they needed a win with a difference of at least two goals.

Already at the beginning of the match the stands of Borisov Arena exploded after the goal of Nikolai Signevich, who punished the visitors' goalkeeper for carelessness.

However, a minute before the break BATE defenders did not keep Milan Skoda at bay and the score became equal.

Barely had the second half kicked off when as the hosts regained the lead, Igor Stasevich finishing a protracted attack with a goal.

However, the 2:1 score did not suit the champions of Belarus since they needed at least one more goal.

Alas, the fans did not see any more goals this night. Slavia win on away goals and enter the qualification playoff of the Champions League.

BATE will continue the European campaign in the Europa League's qualification playoff.

If they win in the two-leg battle, they will win a place in the Europa League group stage.
