Lithuanian smuggler detained at National Airport Minsk

A citizen of Lithuania, head of an international smuggling group, was detained at the Minsk National Airport. According to the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Belarus, a man was wanted in the homeland for smuggling.

It is known that the detainee led a group of Belarusian, Latvian and Russian citizens who smuggled cigarettes through Russia and Latvia to the European Union.

Georgy Yevchar, spokesman for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus:
This detention was made possible thanks to the high-quality interaction between the Interpol Bureau of Belarus and the Interpol Bureau of Lithuania. Taking into account the fact that crime really does not have borders, there is a constant exchange of information between operational divisions, between Interpol's criminal investigation department for combating economic crimes.

At present, the issue of extraditing the violator to law enforcement bodies of Lithuania is being negotiated.
