Ambassador of Iceland: Earlier I knew about Belarus thanks to Eurovision only

Berglind Asgeirsdottir, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iceland to the Republic of Belarus has answered several questions in the TV program Simple Questions with Yegor Khrustalev.

Berglind Asgeirsdottir, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iceland to the Republic of Belarus:
Before I arrived in Belarus, I associated the country exclusively with the Eurovision Song Contest. Many years ago Norway won this musical competition. However, the young winner was from Belarus.

I remember, he played the violin.

The young man came to Iceland, when a preliminary qualifying round was held before the start of Eurovision.

Probably, you mean Alexander Rybak? And did you know that Rybak is translated from Russian into English as fisherman?

Berglind Asgeirsdottir:
Oh, I was lucky to mention him. He won the hearts of Icelanders.
