No delays promised in Belarusian NPP commissioning

The Belarusian NPP will be built in the established time frame.

On July 24 at a meeting with Alexander Lukashenko this was confirmed by the general director of Rosatom Alexei Likhachev. The first reactor will be finished in the beginning of 2018.

It will be put into operation in 2019. A year later, the second one will also be launched. Power units of the same type as in Belarus are already operating at the Leningrad and Novovoronezh nuclear power plants. In addition, construction of the same reactors is underway in Finland, Hungary, Turkey, and Bangladesh.

Security is the main requirement for the construction of the Belarusian NPP, stressed Alexander Lukashenko and the heads of the Rosatom corporation at the July 24 meeting.

The issue is important, the President emphasizes, both economically and politically. After all, the Belarusian nuclear power plant also attracts close attention from other states. However, the Lithuanian OSCE resolution criticizing the Belarusian NPP was not passed. The decision to build a nuclear power plant was not easy for Belarus, the President recalls.

The consequence of the Chernobyl disaster is a real phobia.

But the choice of modern Belarus is the technology of the future.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus:
These are the highest technologists. Level with comic technologies, IT, digital economy and smart technologies. Future also belongs to them. Among these technologies is the construction of the nuclear power plant. We pay very serious attention to its construction.

Suffice it to say that I am thoroughly informed about the plans for the construction of the nuclear power plant and the course of this construction.

Moreover, I have recently appointed the Assistant to the President, who is responsible for the implementation of national projects. This is the level of the national project level with the others that we are carrying out.

Alexei Likhachev, General Director of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom:
I would recall the conversation that you had with the Russian President at the end of May 2012, when the project started.

Back then you said the task is to build the safest, the most modern station in Europe.

Rosatom acts on the basis of this instruction. Indeed, this is a new generation of security (3+). In the world does not have analogs. This is the most economical approach to construction, forming with the Belarusian colleagues price and cost of work.

Alexander Lukashenko notes that he discusses the construction of the Belarusian NPP with Vladimir Putin at each meeting. By the way, the Russian president is sure that it is the Belarusian project that will make it possible to understand the real price.

Price parameters are under control. On July 24 the parties once again confirmed that the station will be safe, modern, and the costs will be reasonable.
