What will Belarusian and Ukrainian presidents discuss on July 21?

On July 21, in Kiev, negotiations will be held between Alexander Lukashenko and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. It is expected that the heads of state will talk over the whole spectrum of bilateral cooperation. Special attention will be paid to the economic block.

On July 21, the Belarusian-Ukrainian business forum will be held in the Ukrainian capital. Both sides are voicing a record figure: contracts estimated at $40 million are slated for signing.

The Belarusian head of state will lay wreaths at the monument of Eternal Glory at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and honor the memory of the victims of the Holodomor. Then he will hold bilateral negotiations with Petro Poroshenko.

The current visit of Alexander Lukashenko to Kiev is a long-awaited event. The presidents agreed to continue the dialogue during the April 2017 meeting. Back then the main block of problematic matters was agreed upon.

It is expected that the presidents will discuss not only economy on July 21. The most sensitive point of the bilateral relations for the Ukrainian side is the upcoming Belarusian-Russian drills Zapad 2017. However, the economic component is not less important. Experts are sure: the two countries have undisclosed potential in this area. Perhaps, personal communication at the highest level that will give new impetus to cooperation.

Taking part in the business forum will be about 300 local companies. What's interesting is that not only large companies but also companies of regional scale expressed desire to establish contacts with Belarusian colleagues.

We have long-standing good connections with Ukraine. And today, during the state visit, I think we will deepen our trade and economic relations and improve the trade climate that exists today between our countries.

Experts are sure that the meeting of the presidents of the two countries will be a signal for the revitalization of business contacts. Experts already call the forthcoming forum the most striking event of the business community of 2017. According to preliminary information, about 16 contracts worth about $40 million are ready for signing.
