Belarusian becomes four-time winner of Yandex. Algorithm

Programmer from Belarus Gennady Korotkevich became the four-time winner of the competition in sports programming "Yandex. Algorithm".

Participating in the championship, which is held since 2011, this year were almost 5,000 people from all over the world, including India, China, Peru, and Cameroon. As reported on the company's website, more than half of applications were from Russia. Second in terms of the number of participants were programmers from Belarus with Ukraine placed third.

To solve six tasks, participants had 2.5 hours. As a result, the Belarusian participant won the competition for the fourth time! Korotkevich won a prize of RUR 300,000. Second and third places went to participants from Switzerland and Japan.

Gennady Korotkevich is 22 years old. He was born in Gomel. Now he studies at the university in St. Petersburg. He participates in international programming competitions as part of the university team and individually. At the moment, Korotkevich occupies first place in CodeForces' list of sports programmers.

In June this year, another Belarusian IT specialist received the Cannes lion for the design of a package of light bulbs in the form of insects.

Last time Belarusian participants achieved such a success 12 years ago.
