Kyiv hosting Belarusian-Ukrainian business forum on July 21

More than 40 million dollars - such are the expectations from the Belarusian-Ukrainian business forum. On July 21 it is underway in Kiev.

In recent years, this is one of the most large-scale economic events in the bilateral relations. Business interests are confirmed by the number of participants: representatives of more than 300 partners will get together. The portfolio of contracts has been formed. Belarus expects to sign a contract for the supply of its quarry equipment worth $5 million.

Gennady Chizhikov, Head of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry:
Ukrainian regional businessmen are interested in cooperation with Belarus. Literally today I received a message that 10 other businessmen from Cherkasy are coming specifically to this forum. There is interest not only in Kiev, but throughout our country.

There are prospects in municipal engineering. Ukraine is still interested in agricultural machinery. Great prospects - there is more and more talk about it - in start-ups, and IT.

Ukraine remains an important trade and economic partner of Belarus. In the 5 months of 2017 alone, mutual trade amounted to more than $1.5 billion. There is a growth in exports and imports. Currently, the companies focus on cooperation of regions.

Belarusians have the opportunity to join infrastructure projects. This involves an update of road network as well as passenger and municipal vehicles. Today, industrial cooperation is developing well.

Igor Sokol, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Ukraine:
Until recently, we had six joint ventures in Ukraine. In May, the assembly of Belkommunmash trolleybuses began in Lutsk.

Of course, agro-industrial complex remains the most attractive industry and sector of the Ukrainian economy for us. This is the supply of agricultural machinery products, our tractors, and delivery of fertilizers (such as potassium and nitrogen).

I think that in the future, Belarus will share with Ukrainian partners the best practices in agriculture.

In recent months, cooperation between the two countries was marked by two contracts for the supply of passenger vehicles. About a hundred Belarusian buses are being prepared for shipment from Minsk to Kiev, while Odessa purchased Belarusian trolleybuses.
