Turkey commends Belarus for support on anniversary of coup attempt

On the anniversary of the coup attempt, Turkey thanked Belarus for support.

It was stated by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey to Belarus on July 15, 2017.

The victims were honored with a minute of silence near the residence of the embassy. The diplomat emphasized that Belarus was one of the first countries to condemn the actions.

The terrorist act one year ago encroached on the unity and the sovereignty of the country. The people of Turkey fought for their liberty and unity. Belarus was one of the first countries to support Turkey and condemn the actions.

Turkey is thankful to the people of Belarus and the Belarusian government.

The coup attempt in Turkey took place one year ago. The main events were based in the two largest cities of the country, Istanbul and Ankara. As a result 260 people died, thousands were injured. One year on the consequences of the event are felt in Turkey. It is a painful chapter in the history of the Turkish Republic.
