Belarus President at Slavonic Bazaar: Our festival has become a true symbol of the unity of millions of people of goodwill

The official opening ceremony of Slavonic Bazaar festival was held in Vitebsk.

Among the guests of honor at the opening traditionally was Alexander Lukashenko. The head of state addressed all those present from the stage of the summer amphitheater. The President called the festival a real pearl of Belarus and a kind of its business card.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus:
We again gathered at a wonderful festival of art and friendship "Slavianski Bazaar." It is the same age as our sovereign and independent Belarus. Over these years it has become a real pearl of the international festival movement and the business card of the country. During this quarter of a century, creative delegations from 72 countries visited ancient Vitebsk, which was unofficially recognized as our cultural capital.

Numerous friends from all corners of the globe meet under the summer Vitebsk sky. It was for this reason that the Slavonic Bazaar star shone for more than a quarter of a century, which symbolizes cordiality, kindness and the greatest hospitality of Belarusians. This is truly a landmark event in the life of our country, the Slavic peoples.

I remember the times when age-old foundations were collapsing in the post-Soviet space and people did not care about art that much. It was then when we tried to put together all the creative forces for the sake of a common cause - spiritual revival and preservation of the best traditions. This high mission was taken over by our festival. It has become a true symbol of the unity of millions of people of goodwill, because it serves a noble goal of strengthening peace and mutual understanding among peoples, preserving cultural diversity and supporting talents.
