Distant countries willing to open embassies in Belarus, MFA says

Foreign policy, development of industrial cooperation, export opportunities and international security were among the main topics during the annual meeting of Belarusian ambassadors in Minsk at the Academy of Public Management under the aegis of the President.

This allows diplomats to check whether they are on the same page and determine the plan of action for the upcoming period. One of the major tasks for heads of embassies abroad is to promote Belarusian products to foreign markets.

Viktor Shikh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Australian Union and New Zealand (concurrently):
On the spot, meeting with high-ranking representatives of ministries and departments, having the opportunity to ask specific questions directly, share problems, find a solution... This, of course, greatly facilitates the work of the embassies, including allowing us to attract more interest of Belarusian exporters, in my case to the Australian market.

Today Belarus has about 60 diplomatic missions abroad. Their number may change: now Belarus is considering the possibility of opening new embassies in the countries that are promising for Belarus. As stated by the Foreign Ministry, some geographically distant countries have declared their readiness to open their embassies in Belarus.
