First Belarusian cosmonaut celebrates his 75th anniversary

Space submitted to him. The first Belarusian cosmonaut, twice the Hero of the Soviet Union, Piotr Klimuk, celebrates his 75th anniversary on July 10.

His way to the stars began as far back as in 1959, when he graduated from an initial training school of pilots, and then he graduated from Chernigov Higher Aviation School with flying colors. After that he studied at a military aviation academy, and when he was 23 he became a colleague of Yuri Gagarin. The Belarusian cosmonaut flew into space for the first time in 1973. The flight lasted nearly 8 days. And it was a record breaking time in the world history. Thanks to him the whole world now knows about a small village of Komarovka in the Brest region. This is the native land of the cosmonaut which he tries not to forget.
