Netherlands embassy office opens in Minsk

On July 10, Belarus and the Netherlands begin a new page in the history of relations. An office of the embassy of that European state was officially opened in Minsk.

It is noteworthy that this event takes place in the year of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the states. During this time, more than a hundred joint ventures with Dutch capital have been created in Belarus. The Netherlands are consistently among the top ten countries which are the main trade partners of Belarus. The diplomatic presence expands opportunities and further confirms interest in the development of relations both in the trade and economic area and in politics.

Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus:
More than 60 diplomatic institutions and consular offices are accredited with the Foreign Ministry; here the headquarters of the CIS and the court of the Eurasian Economic Union. But we are working further. Several countries from the so-called 'far arc' have already announced their readiness to open embassies in Belarus. Even some European countries are ready to follow the example of the Netherlands.

Johanna Brandt, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands:
Our bilateral cooperation is moving forward. The Netherlands is a member of the European Union. I hope we will intensively cooperate not only between ministries, but also between business circles, sports teams and so on.
