Results of President Lukashenko’s working visit to Vitebsk Region

On July 7, 2017 Alexander Lukashenko visited Kopys. During his visit he said that all small towns of Belarus will be put in order in the nearest time.

Kopys was a pilot project of strategic development of small towns of Belarus. The task is to preserve their uniqueness and the convenience of locals.

The order of the President is for all of the governors to come here and see the results with their eyes, and then implement it in their region.

Alexnder Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:
From the next year and so on there should be two small towns like this one. Just like in Kopys. We must put things back to order. We show what small towns should look like, with a minimum of expenses, we need to create conditions, find perspective building sites. People will want to live here, why not live here? It is beautiful! And all settlements are like this. All small towns in beautiful places. They need to be preserved.

Today it is fashionable to either live or have an eco-friendly business in a village. In the nearest time the normative base and the possibility of credit will be worked out. If to unite several plants into one holding, then a full cycle of production lines will be created.

Mikhail Rusyi, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus:
There is a dairy plant in Kopys, which processes 20 tons. It is a cheese plant. We are planning to modernize it, so that it will process about 200 tons of milk daily.

Settlements need to be developed in Belarus. Then people will want to live in these places rather than in Minsk.

Alexander Lukashenko:
We mustn’t concentrate all the population in Minsk-it will be a tragedy for the country then. To spread producing powers all over the territory of Belarus, as they used to say in the Soviet times. However, it cannot be done like in the Soviet times, we must create conditions for people, so that they come here.

It is possible to live and develop everywhere. President Lukashenko was born far away from Minsk’s roads. More than one million rubles were invested into the modernization of the hospital in Kopys, All the necessary conditions have been created here. However, it is not the only reconstructed place. A kindergarten, school, sports grounds, good roads, communication lines and high-speed internet.

Kopys has a place where one can stop and think.

Alexander Lukashenko:
We used to catch fish here. Some houses can be built here and it will be beautiful. But beautiful houses must be built, because it is a place that people will see.
