Vladimir Putin about Belarus’ investment to Russian agriculture, retailing and pharmaceutics

A few hours before the Supreme State Council meeting of the Union State, Presidents Lukashenko and Putin took part in the fourth Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia.

The main subjects are innovation development and digital economy; the sides are to expand cooperation in these directions.

The Forum of Regions greets the Presidents. Short negotiations, mutual photographs and partaking in the closing ceremony of the Forum.

The main topic of the Forum is innovations; it is a locomotive of world economy. As many as 60% of knowledge-intensive products are produced by the USA and the EU, where are Belarus and Russia?

Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:
Three years ago at the All Belarusian People’s Assembly we set an ambitious task on innovative development of Belarus. As we see it now, we guessed. However, when we studied the world experience we were disappointed to find out that we are falling behind. Advanced States are far ahead of as if to speak about information development forms.

We are falling behind and we need to catch up to make our destiny, as President Putin has just said.

Belarus was visited by more than 70 delegations in 2016, and as many as 70 agreements were signed at the Forum of Regions. Vladimir Putin spoke about investments and trust.

Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation:
The total amount of investments from Russia to Belarus in 2016 reached 4 billion dollars; what is more, most of the investments fall on direct investments (3.5 billion dollars).

The Russian business invests into Belarusian transport, manufacturing industry.

In its turn, Belarus invested more than 600 million dollars into Russia’s agriculture, retailing and pharmaceutics.

There are many figures in the signed agreement which deserve a round of applause. BelAZ, Belneftekhim Plants, light industry plants- contracts worth more than one million dollars.

Alexander Lukashenko:
We need to move at this pace, to create our mutual area and demonstrate to everyone that no sanctions, pressure will not interfere with our work. We will get over everything.

The establishment of the Great Stone Industrial Park on the Silk Way is a significant step.

Alexander Lukashenko voices real suggestions to Russian business: come and work, only one condition-with new products of the fifth or the sixths generation.

The participants of the Forum did not hurry to leave it after it had finished: they exchanged addresses in the internet-service, created by Belarusians.
